Dear fellow citizens and fellow citizens, in these days has begun campaigning for the election of the President of the Puglia region, to which the undersigned participates as a candidate for councilor in the list UDC, to support Adriana Poli Bortone.
I remember ten years ago our city at the time of its peak (flourishing footwear industry, many commercial and much more ... even a 'good football team), a living city that was "guarded" by the neighbors as an example to be attained, a place to hang out for study, shopping, culture, socializing and even sports.
Then a series of adverse incidents have marked the decline and our Casarano has become "a land of conquest" for those who, taking advantage of the difficult time, took the opportunity to turn it into "satellite" of some surrounding towns (see shirts / Gallipoli / Matino).
been years when we could count on our political representation in the region or even in national government, but the condition of division in which we have reduced (or maybe we have reduced ...) no longer allowed Casarano to give a representative in any of these institutions.
What happened to the healthy spirit "campalinistico" of Casarano?
Casarano In recent months she woke up from hibernation and a cautious optimism has made its way.
There is still much to do, though, to catch up and we must put a stop once and for all the provincial mentality that still characterizes some of our fellow citizen! What good has been done in recent times is not enough, we must make a quantum leap, rather than cultivate small garden plots, for the collective good, especially the young, and the image of a city that points to the difficulty rebirth. We need to return to politics between the people and the people and not use the electoral support for interest only "special". We need to return to defend our roots and our culture, our "South" and our city, that of the "South" has to be made as equal.
I hope that these few words are transposed from Casarano, so that our beautiful city will no longer be trampled upon and subject to the logic of power away from our territory, but could free itself from any inferiority complex towards nearby villages and not become a dormitory town for pensioners and the unemployed.
